How It Works
A dental implant is a titanium screw, typically 3–5mm in diameter and 8–16mm long, placed into the jawbone where the root of the missing tooth used to be. Titanium is uniquely biocompatible — the bone doesn’t treat it as a foreign object. Over 3 to 6 months, the bone cells grow into the surface of the titanium in a process called osseointegration. The implant becomes a permanent part of your jaw – more stable than the attachment of a natural tooth root.
